Mwangaza Teacher Resource Centre
The Mwangaza campus is made up of the original Mwangaza Centre, an assembly hall, guest
house, and hostel.

As programs participants have doubled in recent years, many loyal and supportive donors have
contributed to a special building/capital improvement initiative, which has resulted in this
"campus."

Today, seminar participants can be educated, housed, and fed at Mwangaza. Besides the
benefits of Mwangaza's daytime program offerings, those attending seminars can take advantage
of many resources found at the Mwangaza library and computers even during evening hours.
Likewise, participants can continue seminar discussions and plan group work after dinner hours.

The
Mwangaza Resource Centre functions as the heartbeat
of Mwangaza. Step inside and you will hear phones ringing,
discussions taking place, plans being made, keyboards clicking,
and printers printing. Here, office space is provided for
Mwangaza's professional staff. In addition, the centre has a
small kitchen, a library of categorized books for teachers'
professional development, a multi-purpose reception room,
washrooms, and a second floor with sleeping accommodations for seminar participants.

The Assembly Hall was completed and officially dedicated in
2002. It is a U-shaped structure just a few yards west of the
resource centre. Seminar participants can easily number 60 or
    70. The seminar room can be configured in many ways to meet
the needs of presentations. Windows provide natural light
from three sides; fluorescent lighting extends its use into
    evening hours.

A circular banda -- a thatched-roof structure -- sits in the center
courtyard of the Assembly Hall's U-shaped structure. A gift in
memory of a friend from an anonymous Mwangaza donor, the
banda provides space for a multitude of functions. A full-service,
modern kitchen, combined with equipment needed to prepare
traditional outdoor cooking, has made it possible for staff to serve
seminar participants chai and mid-morning snacks, early afternoon lunch, and evening dinners --
all presented buffet style.

The Mwangaza Guest House contains three self-
contained bedrooms with bathrooms, providing space
for U.S. volunteers and seminar participants. A Hostel
was completed in 2003, providing a safe sleeping
environment for 20 seminar participants. The Mwangaza
campus can now sleep 45 participants.
